If I were looking to buy today, I certainly think the FT-710 would offer excellent value compared to either the FTDX-10 or the IC-7300. There have been several firmware updates with the FT-710 that have addressed initial release bugs and current pricing would make it a very tempting holiday gift for someone. The shift knob on FTDX10 is way too fine, though, if you turn it 90 degrees either side the shift value is some 50-60Hz only, so you need to keep turning that knob a lot.
